The Van-Far FFA Meats Evaluation and Technology team took first place in state competition. Cayden Caldwell, Ennis Childs, Devyn Keller and Hunter Scroggins are members of the team. Childs also placed first as an individual in that competition.
Ashlee Waddell and Blaise Stuedle, agriculture teachers and FFA sponsors, said that the Van-Far chapter was also named a Gold Emblem chapter, having been ranked twenty-sixth out of 350-plus state chapters.
Pandemic issues
According to Van-Far School District superintendent John Fortney, 71 staff members attended a workshop designed to help understand student issues exacerbated by the pandemic. Those who attended were awarded a $300 stipend as approved by the school board at the April meeting.
Fortney said that the mask mandate ended with the close of the 2020-21 school year and that it was only to remain in effect on school buses as required by the federal government.
