Van-Far softball didn’t have enough to extend Tuesday’s game in Silex.
The Lady Indians scored three runs in the fourth and fifth innings against the Eastern Missouri Conference and recently determined Class 1 No. 6 Lady Owls but lost 14-3 in five innings, not avoiding the run rule. Van-Far (2-13, 0-7 EMO) had only two baserunners in the first inning prior to tallying four of its five hits in the final two innings.
Silex (12-8, 6-1 EMO) scored seven runs in the first inning while Van-Far’s walk and single didn’t turn into any runs. The Lady Owls finished with 10 hits, including three doubles.
Van-Far scored once in the fourth inning on a Katelyn Sutton RBI single to score a leadoff error in the inning, and then the Lady Indians had two runs in the fifth inning on a Makayla McCurdy groundout and Carmen Wilburn RBI single.
Van-Far plays its final home game at 5 p.m. Monday against Marion County (4-8).
