Van-Far’s Devyn Keller had a near perfect start to the season last Thursday.
The Lady Indians kicked off their season with a 12-0 thumping off Louisiana behind a no-hitter from Keller.
The hurler’s only blemish in the game was one walk.
“I am so proud of how the girls played,” head coach Kelly Borchert said. “This year has already been a crazy one and we were just thankful to be out on the field again. We came out hot the first inning and never let up.”
Van-Far collected 14 hits and nine RBIs in the win.
“We were aggressive at the plate and running the bases,” Borchert said.
The Lady Indians face North Callaway and Elsberry earlier this week. They host Mark Twain Thursday at 5 p.m. They are in action Saturday at the North Shelby Tournament.
“This week we are scheduled for three games and a tournament so it will be a nice test for us to see how much endurance we have as a team,” Borchert said. “We are hoping to keep our same momentum throughout the week.”
