Mexico, Centralia win events at Ron Whittaker Classic

Mexico and Centralia picked up some victories on Friday in Mexico.

During the annual Ron Whittaker Classic, Mexico won two events while Centralia finished with five victories.

For Mexico, Tyler Grimes won the boys 800, and Andrew Peuster won the boys 3200. Maggie Ramsey finished third in the girls 3200, Hunter Bickell was fourth in the boys 1600, and the boys 4x100, 4x400 and 4x200 relay teams were second, second and third, respectively. The boys finished sixth out of 12 schools with 71 points.

Alex Rowan and Davontae Frame each were fifth in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. For the girls, Emma Seibert was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, the girls 4x800 relay team was fifth, and Alexandra Terry was sixth in the pole vault.

The Centralia boys were second with 109 points (Hannibal won with 115.5 points and the Lady Pirates won with 123 points). Beau Hatton won the 110 hurdles and high jump, Cayden Dunn won the 300 hurdles and Josh Russell won the discus. Finishing third were Wesley Robertson in the 3200, Ethan Ross in the long jump and pole vault, Logan Rosenfelder in the triple jump, and the 4x800 relay was also third.

The girls 4x400 relay team won the final event of the night as the Lady Panthers were fourth with 92 points. Becca Erisman in the 400, Kassena Ridgel in the discus and Claire Brinkman in the high jump each were second. Finishing third were Kenedee Moss in the 800 and 1600, Claire Page in the pole vault, Cora King in the discus and shot put, and Harper Forshee in the javelin.
