Trojans mount rally in morning 7-4 win over Slater

Posted

Community R-6 fell behind for the second straight Saturday morning in its 9 a.m. game at home against Central Activities Conference foe Slater.

The Trojans trailed 1-0 after two innings but then went ahead 2-1 in the third inning and then scored four runs in the fourth inning after Slater just tied the game to win 7-4. Community (8-5, 3-1 CAC) batted around in the fourth inning, receiving RBI hits from Eli Johnson, Caden Thomas and Mason Carroll. Thomas' hit was a triple.

Kyler Swaim added a RBI on a squeeze bunt play in the seventh inning, giving Mason Rohan some insurance after he relieved Carroll, who pitched four innings against Slater (1-8, 0-2 CAC). Rohan and the Trojans stranded two runners on base in the seventh after inducing a groundout from Keiton Head, who hurt them with two extra-base hits earlier in the game.

Community hosts conference foe Glasgow (2-8, 0-4 CAC) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
