The 51st Missouri Association of Counties conference was held at Margaritaville Lake Resort at Lake of the Ozarks, Nov. 19-22.
Last spring, the Audrain County Commission and city leadership from around the county, started meeting regularly. The meetings were called the Municipalities Program. During these meetings the group worked together on solutions, providing information and sharing resources about health care, code enforcement, insurance for municipal employees, insurance in city-owned property, broadband, ARPA funding, emergency management and other things impacting residents in Audrain County.
This program was recognized by the Missouri Association of Counties for one of just three awards given out at the conference.
The Audrain Municipalities Meeting program was chosen and highlighted as an innovative method that can be adopted by other counties and their communities to enrich and improve the workings of county government for their residents.
Audrain County associate commissioner Leslie Meyer, says "I'm proud that we come together as elected officials, regularly, and develop strategies and solutions that help our communities."
Audrain County Presiding Commissioner Alan Winders says "The program is very successful and it's successful is due to the commitment of the municipalities and their dedication and participation in making things better for their communities and the residents living in those communities.”
The plaque that was awarded at the conference to Audrain County will be displayed at the next Audrain County Municipalities meeting that will be held in Martinsburg, at the park building on Monday, Jan. 16.
