Mexico Relay For Life took over the Downtown Square on Saturday, Sept. 9, to remember those lost to cancer and to celebrate survivors. Cancer survivors wore purple shirts. More than 300 remembrance bags with special messages and photos were placed around the Audrain County Courthouse and were later lit with candles. Event goers also enjoyed food, music and refreshments during the seven hour event that started at 4 p.m. and ended around 11 p.m. The Centralia VFW 6276 and the Centralia American Legion Post 113 provided the colors and a gun salute.
