David Wayne Heaston

David Wayne Heaston, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021 at his home. He lived with COPD for several years.

David was born in Mexico, on Aug. 17, 1951, to Carl and Helen (Stephens) Heaston. He graduated from Van-Far High School in 1970 and joined the Army for three years and spent 10 months serving in Vietnam.

While at Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. he married Jackie Armstrong in 1973, who survives. After military service they moved back to Mexico, where he had a job working at A.P. Green Refractories Company as a press changer until it closed in 2002.

Mr. Heaston is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jackie; one daughter, Lisa Heaston Spires of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son, Lonnie (Dena) Heaston, La Grange; nine grandchildren, Ashlee Heaston of Mexico, Levi Heaston of Portland, Ore., Clayton Spires of Columbia, Regan Lowry of Bolivar, Jadin Heaston of Columbia, Emili and Cassi Heaston of Quincy, Ill., Logan and Paige Heaston of Centralia; three great-grandchildren, Zion Wells of Mexico, Azalyn Smith of Mexico, and Zoie Jones of Bolivar; one sister, Milly (Darrell) Lennox of Monroe City; two sisters in-law, Janice Heaston of Vandalia and Mary Ann Heaston of Dallas, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Brent; six brothers, Don, Bert, Jack, Doug, Winifred and Billy Heaston; two sisters, Pat Myers and Kay Platt; plus five siblings. David was the youngest of 15 children.

He enjoyed working on motorcycles and cars and was a backyard mechanic. He took many trips to Sturgis, S.D., in August with friends on his 1977 low rider. He restored his red 1966 Ford Mustang from just a frame and enjoyed taking it to car shows. He was a charter member of F.O.R.R. Local 13.

David accepted the Lord as his personal savior on July 25, 1987. He and Jackie were members of Centennial Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23 at Centennial Baptist Church with Pastor Bryce Kristofferson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. A memorial graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
