Children at Hawthorne Elementary School got some hands-on learning about electricity from some professionals.
Fourth graders in the classes of teachers Gyda Hooker and Mendie Tutt at the school got a lesson from Keith Mueller from Central Electric Power Cooperative. The teachers toured the CEPC facility this past summer and secured donations from the CEPC to the teacher’s classrooms for supplies and activities to learn about electricity.
Mueller gave a presentation about the dos and don’ts of electricity and how it works. After the presentation, the kids got to do some hands-on activities.
