Hawthorne Elementary School looked more like a Fall carnival than it did a school last Thursday evening, Sept. 21, when the back parking lot was transformed into a festival featuring literacy.
More than 100 of the school’s students attended the Fall into Reading festival that featured several games including tic-tac-toe with pumpkins and tossing corn cobs. The festival included crafts such as making structures with apples and tooth pics to painting pumpkins. Food was also involved with tables set up with snacks. However, one table students had to earn their snacks. What Fall festival could go on without bobbing for apples?
The festival also included reading activities and free books for students.
