Herb and Mary were united in marriage on Feb. 27, 1965 and celebrated 56 years of marriage. Herb graduated from Truman State with a teaching degree and went to Warrenton to teach history and became very involved with the school where he eventually taught driver’s education and physical education. He coached junior high sports and was always very proud of his teams. Herb later became an elementary principal and then director of elementary. After 17 years he retired from the school and later served on the school board for 12 years.

Herb was not one to sit around; he purchased the Western Auto store in Warrenton and successfully ran it for 25 years. After his business adventure he became an avid Cardinals fan. He often could be heard disagreeing with the ump on a called strike or ball. Herb coached many Khoury League teams during the 1970s and 1980s. His three kids all played school sports and he attended many football and basketball games as well as track meets. Herb's latest adventure was the purchase of a small farm where he had a cow calf operation and row crops of beans and corn. Farming was his first love and he worked his whole life so he could have a small operation. After many health issues the last few years he never gave in or gave up. He still enjoyed driving to the farm and seeing his cattle and growing crops. Herb was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Herb was survived by his beloved wife, Mary Bracht nee Daily, of Warrenton; two sons, Terence (Carol) Bracht, of Warrenton, Travis (Kelly) Bracht, of St. Louis; daughter, Paula (Jon Ruggiero) Bracht, of Jonesburg; two brothers, Donald (Anita) Bracht, of Tipton, Ronald (Cindy) Bracht, of Mexico; two sisters, Marie (John) Spires, of Hermann, Debra Raines, of Columbia; brother-in-law, James Glenn, of Alexandria, Va.; granddaughter, Abigail Bracht; grandson, Trent Bracht.

He is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Bracht, Sr.; mother, Willena Bracht; stepmother Evelyn Bracht; sister, Angelina Bracht-Glenn; brother-in-law, Carroll Raines.
