Investigation reveals controlled substance scheme at Audrain County Jail

On Sept. 27,  the Audrain County Sheriff's Office received information concerning the introduction of illegal controlled substance(s) into the Audrain County Jail.

An investigation revealed a scheme involving inmate(s) and others to introduce illegal controlled substances into the Audrain County Jail in exchange for United States Currency. The scheme involved one, now former, corrections officer identified as Kyle M. McIntire, 23, of Perry.

During the investigation, a search of the jail was conducted, and an item of drug paraphernalia was located in the possession of an inmate, which a preliminary presumptive field test was positive for the presence of Heroin.  McIntire was immediately placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.

As a result of the investigation, on Oct. 1, sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant and arrested Jameera N. Keen, 26, of Mexico, at her residence. During the search, evidence related to the conspiracy, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia were located at her residence. Keen was arrested and charged by the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Keen is being held in the Audrain County Jail without bond.

On Oct. 2,McIntire's employment was terminated, and he was arrested by sheriff's deputies. McIntire was charged by the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for delivery of a controlled substance.  McIntire is being held in the Monroe County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

This is an ongoing criminal investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.

"Behavior like this from someone in a position of public trust is a slap in the face to everyone who wears a uniform,”Audrain County Sheriff Matt Oller stated. “The good men and women who work for me have done our part, now it's up to the prosecutor and courts to carry this forward and obtain justice the people of Audrain County demand.
