Jordena G. Travis, 87, of St. Peters, formerly of Mexico, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday September 13, 2024, at The Boulevard Senior Living, St. Peters.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday September 21, 2024, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Zane Whorton officiating. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Jordena was born August 18, 1937, in Clarksville. She was the daughter of David and Lillian Cannon. On September 25, 1955, in Clarksville, she married her high school sweetheart Ray L. Travis. This year they would have been married 69 years. Ray preceded her in death on May 7, 2016.

Jordena was a stay-at-home mom while raising her children until her youngest went to school. Then she worked at a grade school and Vo-Tech school in Mexico, and later an insurance agency before retiring.

She was a Girl Scout leader and taught sewing and cooking in 4-H. Jordena had a passion for reading and you could always find her on her book reader when she wasn’t busy enjoying time with family and friends. In her retirement years, she was the Queen of the Classy Red Hat Ladies of Mexico and put on numerous grand events that raised many

thousands of dollars for The Cancer Society. Jordena was also passionate about travel and even went to the London New Year’s Parade with the Red Hat Group. She enjoyed many trips with family and friends and loved cruising most of all.

Jordena always put her family first and was the heart and soul of our family.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include two daughters, Penny Raye Allen and husband Ethan, of Foristell, and Patricia Renee Brown, and husband Jay, of St. Charles; one son, Kevin Ray Travis and wife Annette, of Clark, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Ray, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, George David Travis; one sister, Jo Ann Henderson; two brothers, Charles Cannon and John Cannon; and one grandson, Ethan Wesley Allen II.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
