Margaret Heuer, 98, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the University of Missouri Hospital.

There will be a private funeral service at Arnold Funeral Home. Private burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Heuer was born on April 17, 1923, in Hatton, to Oscar and Elizabeth (Niebrugge) Nelson. She was a graduate of Fulton High School and worked as a secretary for Farm Credit for a number of years before her marriage.

On June 29, 1946, she married Herbert Heuer in Mexico. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1994.

She was a member of Centennial Baptist Church. Margaret was a great cook and had large vegetable gardens and flower beds. Margaret had a love for animals, especially her pets. She lived on the farm for over 60 years prior to moving in with her daughter and son-in-law six and a half years ago.

Survivors include sons, Gary (Dolores) Heuer of Placitus, N.M., Herbert Heuer, Jr. (Kathy Krause) of Centralia and Ronald (Susan) Heuer of Columbia; daughter Mrs. Ronald (Marilyn) Niekamp of Mexico; four grandchildren, Amy Heuer, Andy Heuer, Natalie (Tom) Kosky and Julie (Shawn) Cooksey; nine great-grandchildren, Nando Rantucci, Corbin Heuer, Cameron Heuer, Christian Kosky, Dylan Kosky, Collin Kosky, Landon Kosky, Maddie Cooksey and Matthew Cooksey; two sisters, Hazel Chism and Linda Craighead; and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Heuer; parents, Oscar and Elizabeth Nelson; infant son, Roger Heuer; two sisters, Mary Kronk and Ruth White; and four brothers, Henry Nelson, Gordon Nelson, Ralph Nelson and Gene Nelson.
