Local runners show up early to work off Thanksgiving over stuffing

About 40 local runners and walkers were able to overcome the slumber of Thanksgiving to participate in the annual Too Much Turkey post Thanksgiving 5K, on Friday, Nov. 24.

The race started at 8 a.m. and began and ended at the Mexico YMCA. Those who registered early scored a T-shirt and all net proceeds will benefit the local Angel Tree program for Christmas presents.

The overall winner on the ladies side was Sarah Ogar with a time of 20:55 followed by Insley Washer with a time of 24:27, and Rosanna McKeown with a time of 26:05. On the guys’ side Seth Snider-Hayes won the race with a time of 17:49 followed by Thomas Peuster with a time of 19:29 and Hunter Bickell with a time of 20:03.

Other top finishers in each age category included: On the ladies’ side 12 & under Avery Straatmann finished with a time of 31:12 followed by Nora Bright with a time of 39:49. On the guys’ side Seth Stevenson finished with a time of 22:08 followed by Eli Wieberg with a time of 24:29 and Lincoln Rice with a time of 25:00.

On the guys’ side in the 13 - 19 year-old category the top finisher was Carter Nading with a time of 20:13 followed by Andrew Peuster with a time of 20:30 and Landon Higgins with a time of 21:54. On the ladies’ side Sidney Turlington finished with a time of 26:27 followed by Maria Peuster with a time of 30:24, and Maya Wieberg with a time of 33:17.

On the ladies’ side in the 20-29 year-old category Anna Fairchild was the top finisher with a time of 26:08 followed by Helena Fairchild with a time of 29:37, and Summer McNellis with a time of 34:58. On the guys’ side Dominick McKeown finished with a time of 22:04 followed by Keeley Diblasi with a time of 23:39, and Emanuel Ramirez with a time of 24:03.

On the guys’ side in the 30-39 year-old category the top runner was Nick Bennett with a time of 22:34 followed by Jake Dubbert with a time of 30:34, and Brett Bishop with a time of 31:13. On the ladies’ side Ashley Bergthold led the way with a time of 28:48 followed by Liz Rice with a time of 28:58 and Melissa Buckman-Young with a time of 30:25.

On the ladies’ side in the 40-49 year-old category Megan Snowden was the top runner with a time of 29:29 followed by Amy Groves with a time of 30:40 and Becky Hoyt with a time of 33:39. On the guys’ side Casey Bergthold finished with the best time of 22:10 followed by Chris Feuille with a time of 28:26, and Michael Kropf with a time of 33:20.

On the guys’ side in the 50-59 year-old category NT Crosby finished with the best time of 23:56 followed by Dan Heim with a time of 28:04 and Robert Ward with a time of 39:25. On the ladies side Jeanette Hayes finished with a time of 29:53 followed by Barb Bishop with a time of 31:27 and Robin Bell with a time of 33:34.

On the ladies’ side in the 60-69  year-old category Rose Myers finished with a time of 28:09 followed by Nancy Mette with a time of 34:25. On the guys’ side Steve Cutforth finished with a time of 22:39 followed by Craig Brace with a time of 32:23.
