The Mexico Farmers Market is growing and organizers are looking for additional producers to join the market at no cost.
Producers are defined as those who raise animal products (meats, eggs, honey, etc.) and plant products (plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables) in Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls and Randolph counties. Production will be subject to a visit by the market manager, Susan Ransom, and/or market president, Sonny Orth.
The Mexico Farmers Market is held every Saturday from April 1 to Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the northeast corner of the Mexico Square.
“We are a unique organization in that you can visit with the people who produce the meat you buy,” said a market spokesperson, “the vegetables you buy and the plants you buy about their production methods. We pour ourselves into the production of a safe, healthy and affordable local food supply for our community.”
Anyone interested in becoming part of the market is invited to come to the Mexico United Methodist Church on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. for an informational/reorganizational meeting.
For more information, call Susan Ransom at 573-239-9150 or email MexicoFarmersMarket@gmail.com.
