23-year-old Myron Mahaney of Mexico pleaded guilty in a federal court today (Tuesday) 11/01/2022, to illegally possessing firearms as a felon and to possessing methamphetamines with the intent to distribute.
Mahaney was riding as a passenger in a vehicle that took Missouri Highway Patrol troopers on a chase through Cole County and ended in a multi-vehicle crash in March. The driver was clocked at speeds of 95 miles per hour on Highway 54. The driver went up to 107 miles per hour when a trooper tried to pull the vehicle over. The crashed ended when the vehicle crashed into vehicles that were stopped in traffic. Mahaney then took off on foot, however was eventually arrested by Jefferson City police officers and the Missouri Highway Patrol. According to the patrol,
Mahaney, was found with 219 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and two loaded semi-automatic handguns, plus over two thousand dollars in cash in his pocket.
Mahaney faces a minimum sentence of five years in federal prison and a maximum of 50 years in federal prison. His sentencing hearing will take place after a presentence investigation is finished.
