Mexico Public Safety responded to a grass fire on Sunday, Dec. 11, in the area of Ringo and Sherwood. Responding personnel found a small area of leaves and grass burning near the edge of the roadway. The fire was extinguished and there was no damage to any personal property. The resident reported burning yard waste the day before. The resident thought the fire was out, however noticed it burring again just before calling MPSD.
On Monday, Dec. 12, at about 12:52 a.m., Mexico Public Safety officers responded to the 1600 block of South Western in reference to a possible fire in the wall of a home. According to a press release from MPSD, responding personnel found a very small fire under a bedroom window. The fire was contained and extinguished with no other damage to the house. The cause was possibly careless disposal of smoking material. There were no injuries during either event.
