Mexico Public Safety With Busy Monday Morning Responding To A Pedestrian Being Hit By A Vehicle And A Residential Fire
Mexico Public Safety responded to several incidents around the same time this (Monday) morning, October 17th.
The first incident was a residential fire at around 8:02 a.m. in the 400 block of Harvard regarding a residential fire. The first arriving officers found smoke coming from the living room of the house. The fire was put out and Mexico Public Safety reports there was damage to the living room floor, and smoke throughout the home. The fire appeared to have been started in the area around the fireplace. There were no injuries reported. Shortly thereafter at around 8:15 a.m. on Monday morning, Mexico Public Safety was called to Liberty Street near Auffenberg's for a report of a pedestrian hit by a car. The first arriving offier found 32-year-old Samuel Couch had been hit by a van driven by 51-year-old Patrick Wyman while crossing Liberty Street. Both men were from Mexico. Couch was transported by Audrain Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for evaluation.
