Renovations will be happening soon at the Davis H. Hart Mexico Area Vocational and Technical School.
It was recently announced the school was awarded $234,000 in grant money through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Missouri's Area Career Center Opportunity (MACCO) Grant provides funding to enhance the state's CTE capacity by providing more opportunities for CTE students while updating and modernizing career centers' infrastructure and equipment.
"The money will be used for two main projects" Hart Career Center director Chris Denham said. "The first will be a complete remodel of the cosmetology salon. Several items will be updated, including sinks, and the bathrooms and work stations being updated. It will be better for students and improve the customer experience. The second major project will be new electronic security gates at both sides of the building. We have lots of traffic with deliveries, car being worked on etc. It will improve security."
Mr. Denham tells the Mexico Ledger he is hopeful for the projects to get started in the Summer after the school year concludes and hopes to have everything completed by the Fall of 2024.
