During the late evening hours of Tuesday, Feb. 1, the rain moving through the Mexico area began freezing. That changed to snow after a couple of hours.
Around 10:30 p.m. the Mexico Street Department began working to keep the roads passable. As of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2, Mexico Public Safety had responded to or discovered three crashes, slide-offs, or stranded motorists. There have not been any injuries.
Area residents are encouraged to minimize travel and drive slowly and carefully when out.
