Mexico recently welcomed a new business to the fold as People Savings Bank opened its doors for business July 8.
“Our board is very excited to be a part of the Mexico community.” said Derek Stuckenschneider, PSB’s Northern Region president.
Mexico is a valuable market for the bank and its appeal was long discussed among the board. And in February, location work inside the Jefferson Building got underway, with a top-notch facelift made.
“The building owners graciously provided the facelift with the flooring, painting, and lighting,” said Stuckenschneider.
The PSB team is enjoying their new digs and couldn’t be happier to be in a highly visible location in the Audrain County seat.
“We have an amazing team that has experience in banking specifically in Mexico,” said Stuckenschneider.
That team includes Tanner Smith, Nan Webber, Bree Reeves, Bob Darr, and Stuckenschneider. In addition to the people, the branch is equipped with an ATM in the drive thru, which will be a fully functioning ITM (Interactive Teller Machine). The ATM is up and running, with the ITM to be online in the near future.
PSB started in 1935 in nearby Rhineland, and is still owned by local shareholders.
“We continue to make local decisions in our 12 branches and our employees are heavily involved in each of our communities,” Stuckenschneider said. “ As our CEO, Mark Laune says, ‘When our communities succeed, we succeed.'"
It’s local shareholders, community involvement, and local decisions that help define PSB, Stuckenschenider feels.
“Our customers are neighbors, friends, places we shop and eat, and we love to help bring value to our customers,” he said. “At Peoples Savings Bank, we pride ourselves on personalized, local service. Whether you're opening your first account, getting married, having a baby, buying a home, or starting or expanding a business, we sit down with you to offer tailored solutions. Our local decision-making ensures quick, flexible support, reinvesting in our community’s growth. You're not just a number – you're part of our local community.”
PSB has 12 branches, which are split into three regions: the Rhineland Region (Hermann, New Haven, and Rhineland); the St Charles Region (Troy, New Melle, St. Peters, and Winghaven); and the Northern Region (Mexico, Montgomery City, New Florence, Bowling Green, and Clarksville).
The bank is eyeing an open house and ribbon cutting Wednesday, Sept. 18.
We are currently scheduled to have our open house and ribbon cutting on Wednesday, September 18.
“Look for upcoming deposit specials especially near our ribbon cutting date,” Stuckenschneider said.
For Stuckenschneider, the Mexico branch marks a kind of homecoming. He extends an invitation to one and all to stop by for a visit.
“I was born in Mexico and lived here most of my life,” he said. “ I met my wife, Alex, here while she was a student teacher at Eugene Field and luckily, I convinced her to marry me and make this our home. Our two daughters go to school here, participate in sports and extracurriculars. The Mexico community is very important to my family and the bank and we hope to help continue to make it better.”
