The man with a friendly demeanor and who always asks the question "How can we help?," Mr. Phillip Iman is retired as the executive director of the Laura Miller George Help Center in Mexico.
Phillip started his career the Help Center on December 15, 2016 and officially retired on September 30, 2022.
Looking back Phillip says "I feel our team and myself brought the Help Center from a relatively small food pantry operation, to one of the largest in Central Missouri, second only to Central Pantry in Columbia. That happened because of a host of reasons, the most relevant that our pantry does not turn anyone away who needs food for themselves and or their family. We operated within a non-judgmental environment, providing our friends and neighbors with dignity and respect, leaving our personal feelings out of the equation. This type of environment allows people to partake of the blessings without fear of being shamed, looked down upon, or being talked about in our small community. I am not nearly done serving yet. You may not see me, but I will be there caring for others and sharing my love."
The Help Center hosted a retirement party for Phillip, tonight (Monday), October 10th.
Jolene Rodgers is the new executive director at the Help Center. Rodgers comes to the position from the University of Missouri Extension Office and has spent a lot of time at the Help Center during food distributions educating people about food and nutrition.
