The evening of Dec 9., Simmons, Stables hosted the adults-only viewing of the Christmas decorated barn. Guests came to view the 136 year old Stable, have a cocktail, enjoy some appetizers and listen to Christmas music. The Pearl Martini & Wine Bar of Mexico, Missouri were on hand to bartend the event with specialty beers, wine and hot beverages. Scott Weber entertained guests with Christmas music throughout the two hour event. Many of our guests had photos taken under the mistletoe in the Santa stall that had been beautifully decorated by Blossoms & Blooms Florist. We happily welcomed many new faces to the event and wished all a happy holiday season.
The next day, Dec. 10, Simmons’ Stables hosted their annual Old-Fashioned Christmas at the Stable and this year‘s event was well attended by the public. Children stood patiently in line with their families to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and have their pictures taken by David Pickering Photography. Those pictures were printed out and given to each child, along with a special Stables coloring book and crayons set. Holiday cookies and hot chocolate were available afterwards as attendees enjoyed Presser Pipes Choir & Scott Weber singing favorite Christmas carols throughout the event. Outside were equal lines to take a sleigh ride pulled by a beautifully matched team of Belgian draft horses, brought by David White from Clifton Hill. The sleigh was borrowed from Tony Broeker, who had beautifully repainted the sleigh this year in deep red. We adorned the sleigh with live pine/cedar swags, pine cones and bows. We are extremely grateful to the community who came to visit the stable and to our sponsors who help make this event free to the public as we celebrate Christmas and the history of the “Grand Old Barn on the Boulevard”.
