On Tuesday, Aug. 3 at approximately 9:40 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department took a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was a white, 2005 Ford pick-up truck with a red, flatbed trailer attached.
The truck and trailer were stolen from a business parking lot in the 4400 block of E Liberty. A review of video evidence indicated the theft occurred just before 5 a.m.
Around 4:30 that afternoon, information from an alert citizen led officers to believe the truck and trailer were parked in Callaway County near a rural church. A deputy from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office located the truck and trailer, which had been abandoned.
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers at (800) 392-8477 or Mexico Public Safety at (573) 473-5800 or (573) 581-2100.
