Webber Family Awards presented

The Webber family and Commerce Bank recently visited the Mexico school campus to surprise five teachers with an announcement for the annual Excellence in Teaching awards. The award memorializes the family matriarch, the late Laurann Webber, and recognizes the importance of teaching excellence to the success of Mexico School District.

Each recipient received $2,000, half from the Webber Family’s generosity and a matching donation from Commerce Bank.

The 2024 Webber Family Award recipients are:

Rachel Howell, McMillan Early Learning Center

Sarah Olson, Eugene Field Elementary

Julie Stevenson, Hawthorne Elementary

Stacey Ellison, Mexico Middle School

Jennifer Warbritton, Mexico High School

This is the fifth year since the Webber family instituted the award for teachers in the school district. Educators who are full-time faculty members, who have completed at least three years with Mexico, and who have a contract for next year are considered. Faculty colleagues and administrators may nominate individuals. There are no limitations on the use of the awards.

A committee of three retired teachers, along with Gina Raines from Commerce Bank, and Brendan Webber of the Webber Family, evaluated all submissions and selected the award recipients.

The Mexico School District would like to thank the Webber family for the institution of this award that honors our Bulldog educators. Likewise, many thanks to Commerce Bank for their generous support in matching the donation.
