A 15-year-old Mexico boy was charged as an adult Monday for his alleged role in a March shooting.
Evander Lee Clark, 15, of Mexico, was charged with five felony charges for conspiracy to commit a felony, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, third-degree assault and resisting arrest.
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred on West Love Street and Missouri Street on March 26 around 11:59 p.m.
According to the probable cause statement, Mexico Public Safety Department officers responded to shots fired to find that a residence had been struck multiple times by gunfire. There were three residents in the home at the time of the shooting. Nobody was injured in the incident.
During the investigation, it was learned that one of the residents in the home was in an ongoing feud with Clark, according to the probable cause statement.
A surveillance video from the area of the victim's home showed an SUV commonly driven by a second suspect identified as Casey J. Minter Jr. A traffic stop was initiated April 8 when officers observed Minter driving a similar SUV. During the stop, Minter was found to be in possession of a Glock pistol and 30-round drum magazine, according to the probable cause statement.
Minter denied any involvement in the shooting, stating in a police interview that he overheard Clark threatening to kill a resident on the phone. He also denied being at the scene at the time of the shooting and told officers he was with another person that night and did not go near the scene of the shooting.
Ballistics testing matched Minter’s firearm to shell casings found at the crime scene, police said. The individual Minter was allegedly with told police he had dropped her off and left the night of the shooting. He returned the next day, stating Clark and him had shot up a house, according to the probable cause statement.
Another witness who claimed she was with Clark and Minter at the time of the incident said Minter was driving and handed the firearm to Clark who exited the vehicle and fired shots into the home.
Clark was arrested Dec. 1. He is being held without bond.
In October, Minter pleaded guilty to consipiracy to commit a felony and child endangerment for his involvement.
