ACAPSR holds October Meeting

Audrain County Area Public Schools Retirees held their meeting on Oct. 1 at the Mexico Area Family YMCA.

Tiffani Maxwell, YMCA member and instructor, talked about the YMCA, its programs, memberships, costs and Staying Fit – The Whole Body Experience, a news release stated.

Discussion and motion to approve previously e-mailed minutes from the August meeting was asked for by Deborah Teague and was so approved. The treasurer’s report was also approved.

Lou Mongler spoke about communications and gave information about recommendations for storage from AARP.

Sally Stuart reported on community impact and asked that members continue with their programs that help fund the ACAPSR grant program.

There will be a dues increase for 2026, from $46 per year to $50 per year.

Election of officers was discussed. ACAPSR announced a new recording secretary elect, Lou Mongler, and Joan Fecht will remain as Treasurer. Officers will be installed at the December meeting.

The Missouri Retired Teachers Association has elected Virgie Cook and Sheryl Smith as co-presidents and Maureen Hacker as the new vice president for region four.

Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army is Dec. 6 and a sign-up sheet was available for time slots.

The next meeting will be held on Dec. 3 at the central office. The program will be Mexico Public Schools Updates. The social committee will be chaired by Cheri Erdel, with supporting members Barb Denio, Karen and Sterling Holbrook, Shirley Marty, Ellen Wilson, Vanessa Brink, and Karen Linnemeyer.

Prayer for the meal was given by Christine Shire, and the meal was enjoyed by all.
