A long-time Audrain County Health Department nurse has recently been promoted to the position of corporate health specialist. Brandi Meyer, LPN, was also recently certified as a Workplace Wellness Specialist through the Wellness Alliance, according to a news release from ACHD.
Meyer completed the six-week online course in May. She is also ACHD’s immunization and lab services coordinator.
“Through this certification, Brandi is now equipped to expand her role and help area businesses and corporations with their workplace health strategies,” ACHD Special Projects Manager Katie Swaim, RN, BSN said in the release. “Brandi has 20 years’ experience as a nurse with ACHD, and she will be able to apply that knowledge and experience to this new role that will benefit area businesses and organizations.”
Meyer said she’s excited to bring this new program to the Audrain County business community.
“One area that often gets overlooked is health in the workplace,” she said in the release. “With this program, we’re hoping to show employers and employees how important health of the workforce can be in making a business more cost-effective and its workforce more productive. I’m excited to help these businesses realize their full potential with workplace wellness programs.”
Swaim explained what Meyer will be doing in her new role.
“Brandi will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing clinical, educational and wellness programs to prevent disease and illness, and promote overall health and well-being,” she said in the release. “This position focuses on promoting workplace health initiatives and coordinating with businesses, schools and organizations to improve employee well-being and overall health. We’re excited to see this program put into action and eager to help area businesses improve the health of their employees.”
More information on this new program will be posted shortly on the ACHD website at www.myachd.org and associated social media outlets.
