Kathy McCluggage invited Ra’Vae Moore, Executive Director of the Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition, to speak about the organization’s work addressing homelessness in Audrain County.
Moore shared information about ACSRC’s shelter services, transitional housing program, rapid rehousing efforts, and homeless prevention programs. Over the last several years, ACSRC has made a meaningful impact on homelessness in Mexico, both in the lives of individuals and families served and in reducing community costs associated with homelessness.
The organization is primarily funded through donations, local foundation support, and Missouri Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits. ACSRC receives no ongoing state or federal operational funding for its core shelter and housing work. Much of this impact has been accomplished by a very small team, with only three staff members for much of the organization’s growth.
ACSRC’s transitional housing program currently offers 19 rooms with a maximum capacity of 29 people. The facility is currently undergoing renovations to improve services and expand long-term impact. Through case management, participants receive support as they move from homelessness toward stable housing. The program has seen success rates ranging from 26% to 48% over the first three years.
Moore explained that ACSRC’s work goes beyond providing a place to stay. The organization teaches stability, budgeting, life skills, accountability, and housing readiness so individuals and families can build a stronger foundation for long-term success.
Members gave Happy Moments and recited the benediction to close the meeting.
