Special Events reported a good time was had at the paint party and it is planning one more event — possibly a trip to the Florida Winery. Literacy is planning a movie day for the ESL students and families. Hospitality is diligently working on birthday party arrangements and Gina Raines has opened her house for the event. Community Service is working with Mobility Worldwide for Altrusa’s international project. Altrusa is sponsoring the assembly of a mobility cart that will be sent overseas. Finance, Ways and Means is planning a breakfast fundraiser for April 18 from 7-10 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Gymnasium. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 years old and under. All proceeds go towards local projects.
Donna Corrado, President of the Missouri State Medical Association presented Judy Kelly a donation of $300 to the Altrusa Books and Bears project. She also extended an invitation to Judy to present a program about this project at their conference.
Sherry Medley introduced Lauren Oliver, Executive Director of the Children’s Therapy and Early Education School. Oliver gave an informative presentation regarding the school’s history for over 75 years and the services that it provides to students 3-5 years old with developmental delays and disabilities. The school is a nonprofit organization and students attend free of charge. The Children’s Therapy and Early Education School is currently working on a playground renovation project. This playground will be named in memory of Sara Robertson who was a speech therapist at the school. Before she died, she gave ideas and dreams for the playground. The school is accepting donations for this project.
