Altrusa International of Mexico met on June 25 at The Oaks for its program meeting.

The meeting was called to order by Copresident Tiffani Maxwell followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 24 members in attendance along with four guests.

Judy Kelly announced the mobility cart that Altrusa sponsored through Mobility Worldwide was decorated. Rhonda Vitale offered to deliver the cart to Columbia and attend the presentation event.

Carla Tanzey initiated new members Vicki Oligschlaeger (sponsored by Gina Raines) and Ranae Clement (sponsored by Molly Hanley).

Rhonda Vitale, scholarship chair, introduced Ethan Wright, one of the two scholarship winners.

Chris Newbrough, emergency planner with Audrain County Health Department, spoke about History Takes A Walk. This is a 1.5-mile walking tour of different areas of Mexico. This includes a speaker that will give an informative talk about the history of this area. The walks are scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month starting in April and ending in October with a Spooky Tour. The tours are limited to 20 participants, and anyone interested can register by calling the Audrain County Health Department.

The most recent tour was held on June 23 at Elmwood Cemetery. Tony Robertson served as the tour guide stopping at 11 graves giving the history of each one. Some of the local famous gravesites include Howard Rushmore, the Lillard brothers, Asa Hall and Tom Bass. The July tour will be July 21 at 6 p.m. beginning at the Historical Society, traveling down Muldrow to West Liberty and continuing to the Ameren Missouri building.

The Audrain County Health Department has printed a book from the 2025 History Takes a Walk Tour. If anyone is interested in purchasing one, the books are available at the Audrain County Health Department. All proceeds go to the Audrain County Medical Assistance Program.

Members gave Happy Moments and recited the benediction to close the meeting.

Anyone interested in attending a meeting can visit the Altrusa International of Mexico, MO Facebook page or email Altrusa at mexicoaltrusa@gmail.com.
