Saunceria Neale introduced Marissa Lightsey and Katie Smith with Mainstreet Mexico.

Marissa and Katie spoke about the mission of Mainstreet Mexico. They are an organization that is preserving the historic charm and promoting the economic vitality of downtown Mexico. They want to restore historic buildings, support local businesses and organize inclusive events. By doing this they hope to attract visitors, generate economic activity and provide opportunities for small business owners to be successful.

Katie was recently hired as the executive director and the board is comprised of business owners, community leaders and building owners. Some of their vision for the downtown area are looking at grants to help with the beautification of the mini park on the east side of the square along with landscaping and murals. Planters were placed before the holiday season with beautiful winter-themed decorations. There will be flowers planted in them in April.

They have big dreams and goals for the future and always welcome volunteers. Please contact Katie or Marissa if you are interested at contact@mexicosquare.org

Members gave Happy Moments and recited the benediction to close the meeting.
