Some area softball players have already been announced as among the best in their conference and district and a select few could say that’s the case for their region as well.

In Class 3 Region 2, Mexico had senior third baseman Abby Bellamy named to the first team and freshman catcher Hannah Loyd and junior outfielder Jo Thurman each selected as second-team members. Centralia also had three on the Class 3 Region 2 team, including senior shortstop Jozelynn Bostick and senior center fielder Autumn Hawkins on the first team and junior pitcher Kaelyn Walters on the second team.

On the Class 1 Region 1 team, Community R-6 had senior shortstop Sarah Angel as a first-team infielder and junior catcher Brooklynn Glasgow as a second-team member, and Van-Far senior third baseman/pitcher Mara Jensen was named to the second team.

The slugging trio of Bellamy, Loyd and Thurman each were already named as first-team all-conference and all-district players for Mexico. Bellamy led the Lady Bulldogs with eight home runs, 39 hits, 18 extra-base hits, 38 RBI, a .419 batting average, a .491 on-base percentage and a .819 slugging percentage. Loyd tied for the team lead with eight home runs while throwing out seven runners for a percentage of 30.4 percent and allowing only one passed ball, and Thurman had a team-high 16 stolen bases, 39 runs scored and 39 hits.

Bostick and Hawkins were unanimous all-conference selections for Centralia while also appearing on the all-district team this season and on multiple all-region teams in the past. Bostick had the best slash line of a .505 batting average, .561 on-base percentage, .602 slugging percentage and 1.163 OPS, and Hawkins ranked first with 52 hits, 37 stolen bases, 48 runs and 15 walks while having a second-best .468 average, .535 on-base and 1.013. Walters was named all-conference and all-district for being the Lady Panthers’ go-to pitcher, posting a 3.47 ERA, 118 strikeouts, 63 walks and a 17-12 record in 1591/3 innings.

Angel, once again, was all-conference and all-district this season for leading Community R-6 with a .425 batting average, .485 on-base percentage, 13 stolen bases, 37 runs scored and 36 hits. Glasgow joined her on both teams for having a team-high .626 slugging percentage and 10 doubles while also hitting a home run. Behind the plate, she threw out 22 runners for a percentage of 42 percent, committing six errors and having 10 passed balls in 25 games played.

Jensen was the only Van-Far player to be all-conference and all-district this season and is the only Lady Indian on the all-region team. She owned the team-best marks at the plate and in the circle with a .344 batting average, four home runs, nine doubles, 22 hits and 1.063 OPS, and a 1.66 ERA, 30 strikeouts and 22 walks in 38 innings pitched.
