Wolfpack Academy positions pack to capture first in final weekend of M-3

The Wolfpack came in with a mindset to control their outcomes and not rely on another team to position them to be in the driver's seat of being the league champion in the final two games coming up May.

The Ravens Academy would be match one. Alex Rodriguez, of Mexico High School, returned to the starting lineup and Kenneth Guzman, of California High School, would create a 1-2 punch on the outside wing positions executing connections on the cross finding the back of the net early and often. Checking to the center inside and out Than NGE HTWAY, of Hallsville High School, would keep the pressure and ball on the Ravens side of the field. If the Ravens did get an outlet, it was only to be met by Jibran Rodriguez, of Mexico, only to be sent back to the part of the field they had been fighting to get out of. Jibran Rodriguez would also find the back of the net with nice ball handling through multiple Ravens.

The rotation of Jesus Garcia, of Mexico, Ivan and Jose Pena, respectively of California middle and high schools, would enter the game and all roads led to the final match of the season with a

clean sweep. Gonzalo Garcia, of California High School, as the goalie would also find the back of the net coming out the box dribbling to the opposite end with a score. The Ravens would find the back of the net one time. The Ravens would fall with a final score of 11-1.

The second game of the day would be a rematch with Kirksville High School. Kirksville took match one 7-3 earlier in the season. The Wolfpack, clearly on a mission, applied so much pressure throughout the game, that Guzman recorded a hat trick. Although Kirksville got on the Wolfpack side of the field they would only find the net one time before falling. Jibran Rodriguez would feed Kirksville a barrage of shots and assists they had no answer for. The last meeting came to an end with Kirksville falling 8-1. Gonzalo Garcia sealed the deal with outstanding goal keeping with only allowing 1 goal per game.

“A few things that had the players clicking, is communication and patience,” coach Chris Williamson said. “Once you see the game better, switch areas of the field, ensuring your area is also being filled, not rushing the shots on goal creates rebuilding to possess the ball. This allows everyone to get a touch or hit on goal. Now they know exactly what kind of team they can be. As a coach, I see the talent these players have always had and it feels good knowing they see their worth as well. Too bad it hadn’t been uncovered. Or used properly in the past.”

Fake Madrid is in first place with a record of 4-1-1 while Wolfpack Academy Dons is second at 4-2 and Kirksville High School Boys are third at 3-3.
