Arthur Lindsey Griffin, 94 of rural Centralia, slipped peacefully from his earthly home to his eternal heavenly home on September 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 28, at First Baptist Church in Centralia, where he was a member and served as the teacher of the men’s class while he was able. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. till time of service at the church.
Arthur was born on October 16, 1928, on a farm in rural Thompson, the son of Ralph and Brooksie (Hawkins) Griffin. He attended and graduated high school in Centralia, where he enjoyed and excelled in sports.
On May 4, 1947, he married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Lee Davis. God Blessed them with five children that survive, Lindsey (Lois) Griffin of Durham, Sue Griffin-Kamara of Maryville, Rob Griffin of Centralia, Joy Bosworth of Mexico, and Catherine (Cathy) Griffin of Thompson; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; one brother Donald (Marilyn) Griffin of Prairie Village, Kan. and one sister Laura (Dale) Beasley of Centralia.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and William (Bill) Griffin; one sister Hazel Bruce; son-in-law Yaya Kamara and an infant great-great granddaughter Macie Welch.
Arthur built their home in rural Centralia where he resided most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Arthur was a pastor by calling and a carpenter by trade. A simple man who loved the simple things in life. He loved children, animals, the outdoors/nature, and working with his hands. Most of all he loved God and started every day by studying His word.
Arthur was a man of few words, unless he was sharing his faith and love for his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus. His passion was to share God’s word and lead others to Christ. It was his desire for all his family to accept Jesus as their personal Savior and serve and trust in God, as Arthur had spent his life doing.
He was not a wealthy man by the world’s standards, but he had riches beyond measure waiting for him in Heaven.
