Harvey Petersen passed away on April 7, 2024. He was born Nov 6, 1938. He grew up in Plainview, Iowa. The family moved to Mexico, and he graduated from Mexico High School in 1957. At a local hayride in Mexico, he met his wife Mary Veale. They were married on December 30, 1961.
Harvey attended University Of Missouri –Columbia and earned a degree in Animal Science. During his time at Mizzou he joined the FarmHouse Fraternity. He served in the Army both on active duty and the reserves for ten years.
Harvey operated a farm in Fayette for 17 years. He also worked for the Department of Natural Resources prior to retiring to Florida in 2019.
Mr. Petersen is preceded in death by his parents Walter & Helen Petersen and his brother Walter Petersen.
Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife Mary and his sister Marianne (Petersen) Hubert, his brother Warren Petersen, daughter Lynn (Petersen) Hults, son Tim Petersen and three grandchildren Tim Petersen, Emerson and Hayden Hults. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 11 in The Villages, Florida.
