Audrain County Area Public School Retirees organization held its June 4 meeting at True Manufacturing Co., Inc. Plant manager Justin Berry and Mexico Office manager Brad Walker presented to the group, and offered a short tour of the facility, according to a news release from the organization. They provided lunch for all. Prayer was offered by Carolyn Crum.
Following lunch, the meeting was called to order by president Deborah Teague, Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jeanie Crews and a devotion was shared by Jackie White.
Secretary’s minutes from last meeting were approved with a motion from Beverly MacFarlane, seconded by Lois Runnels.
The treasurer’s report given by Joan Fecht was also approved.
Tori Webber reported on Unit Training at MRTA headquarters, which was attended by Webber, Janice Douglas, Sally Stuart, Cheri Erdel, Diana Henage, Lou Mongler, Lois Runnels and Deborah Teague.
Cheri Erdel gave a Legislative update, and Lou Mongler reported on Informative Protective information.
“Our dedication to Community Service was praised by Sally Stuart for two of our major projects which benefit our Community Impact through scholarships,” the release stated.
It was reported that the Retirement Education workshop is scheduled for Oct. 18, 2025, by Lois Runnels, who stated invitations would be sent out.
Susan Atkins informed the group that “congratulation” gift bags of information were given to new retirees, with an invitation to join MRTA and the local unit.
Unit of Excellence and the eight criteria required to maintain our Unit of Excellence was discussed by Deborah Teague, and it was noted a membership drive is being planned. Teague also thanked the members who showed up to clean the museum schoolhouse and noted a picture was in the Mexico Ledger.
The Region 4 meeting is being held Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The committee for this event in Diana Henage, Jan Douglas, Maureen Hacker, Linda Ahman, Mila Lowry, Susan Atkins and Donna Haerer. A “Save the Date” will be sent around Sept. 11.
The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 6 at Spartan Light Weight Metals, with lunch TBA.
