Audrain County celebrates the Fourth of July

While wet weather wiped out a lot of the Mexico Optimist Club’s Fourth of July plans, the skies and days were still clear for some fun at Mexico Optimist Ball Park. In the early evening, kids participated in some games, including kickball, and entered into an art and coloring contest. Adults mingled and enjoyed the much more pleasant weather than the rain that canceled the mushball tournament and many other events on the day’s schedule. Fireworks still were set off in the dark of night by the Mexico Noon Lions.

The Mexico community had no shortage of Independence Day-related events to attend last week, including, but not limited to two show-stopping fireworks displays. Here are some shots, courtesy of Eric Mattson, of the Noon Lions show at Optimist Park, July 4 and of the Tyronn Lue celebration, held at Tyronn Lue Park.

The city of Laddonia also had Fourth of July festivities, including a parade.
