The Audrain county Historical Society Veterans Exhibit displayed the museum’s finest pictures and memorabilia on the first floor of the Graceland Museum. This includes service uniforms, Congressional Medals of Honor, other memorabilia including the working lights from the USS Audrain. The exhibit runs from Nov. 6 through the 16 and everything on display came from the museum’s “war room”, though some installments have found their forever homes on the main floor. Executive Director Jennifer Prior and Sue Fennewald were hard at work setting everything up. Though the attraction got a slow start, the weekend saw a bit of foot traffic.
“Throughout the rest of the week, it’s hit or miss but that's okay! It’s here and it teaches me how to do these because I'm learning as I go,” says Prior.
On Friday, nine veterans from the veterans home came to hear a guest speaker with another coming on Saturday.
The doors to the Museum will be closed January in February but when they open back up in March, the hope is that it will be “unrecognizable”.
