Nineteen teams and over 150 people participated in Audrain Humane Society’s 13th annual Trivia Night held at the Audrain County 4-H Center on March 1.

Jim Williams was the MC for the second year and Be Bo Bouncers 4-H Club provided concessions.

Presbyterian Dog Team won first place in the Trivia competition with 64 correct questions out of 80 questions and Stray Cats and I Shih-Tzu Not tied for second place with 61 correct answers.

Audrain Vet Clinic’s 101 Dalmatians team won “most decorative table” and each team member received an AHS T-shirt.

Trivia night provided the perfect opportunity for a surprise birthday party for Elizabeth Hoover, should be one comma here and the birthday girl was given the honor of drawing the winning ticket for the 50/50 raffle.

Attendees arriving early were given the opportunity to meet a couple of Audrain Humane Society’s Pet Pals Foster/Adoption Program puppies, resulting in one of the puppies being adopted the following Monday.

Audrain Humane Society board president Marilyn Niekamp said it was the fourth best night for money raised since the trivia night started 13 years ago and is because of the continuing generosity and support of our community.

The community once again continued its support and helped raise over $7,000 for the 13th annual Audrain Humane Society Trivia Night.

Community businesses and individuals donated items to be used for the silent auction and raffles and numerous businesses participated as an ad sponsor.

Audrain Humane Society uses the money to help pay for the animals at the City of Mexico Animal Shelter to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Annual spay/neuter costs are over $30,000 a year. This is Audrain Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser to help pay for the spays and neuters.

Anyone wanting to make a donation can do so by mailing donations to AHS, PO Box 603, Mexico, MO 65265 or may donate on-line at www.audrainhumanesociety.org.
