The Missouri 4-H community announced Oct. 13 the induction of Nick and Cindy Parrish of Audrain County into the 2025 Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame, with a ceremony that was held on Aug. 10 at State Fair Community College in Sedalia.

This annual celebration honors outstanding volunteers and supporters who have made lasting contributions to the 4-H program and the youth of Missouri, according to a news release from the University of Missouri Extension office.

Nick and Cindy Parrish have dedicated 27 years of volunteer service to Missouri 4-H, the release stated, adding they are especially active in the equine program, sharing their time and talents to help youth grow in confidence and skill. Cindy served as the club leader for the Country Bumpkins 4-H Club and led a variety of projects, including Clover Kids, arts and crafts, goats and horses. Nick has shared his expertise in beef, woodworking, welding and horses, mentoring countless youth along the way. Beyond club and project work, both Nick and Cindy are deeply involved in the Audrain County Fair Board and 4-H Council, playing key roles in supporting and growing 4-H programs in their county.

“Their passion, leadership, and years of service have left a lasting impact on Audrain County 4-H,” the release stated. “By honoring these exceptional individuals, Missouri 4-H not only celebrates their personal accomplishments but also acknowledges the ripple effect of their influence, which extends far beyond their time of service.”

The Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose service and commitment to 4-H have had a lasting impact on local communities and across the state.

The release said the ceremony event also highlights the continuing partnership between Missouri 4-H and its sponsors.

“Our Hall of Fame ceremony is a testament to the power of partnership,” said Rachel Augustine, Senior Director of Advancement for MU Extension and the Missouri 4-H Foundation, in the release. “With the generous support of FCS Financial and the Missouri State Fair, we are able to celebrate these outstanding leaders and strengthen 4-H’s mission of empowering young people with hands-on learning, leadership development, and community engagement.”

Special recognition was given to Lupita Fabregas, who retired in August after several years of dedicated leadership to the Missouri 4-H program, the release stated.

The Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame ceremony is part of the Missouri State Fair’s 4-H Day, “further showcasing the deep and lasting relationship between the fair and the 4-H program,” the release stated. This year’s honorees will join a distinguished group of more than 690 individuals and organizations who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since its inception.

Inductees representing 33 counties established a legacy totaling 1,011 years of service to 4-H.
