Candidate filing for Audrain County residents interested in running for available seats in the April 2026 closed Dec. 30.
The next general municipal election in Audrain County will be held April 7, 2026 and the following candidates have filed.
Candidates will be listed on the ballot in order of filing.
The Mexico School District Board of Education had three three-year terms available. Only the three incumbents, School Board President Jessica Ekern, Treasurer Mathew Pilger and Director Lennette Brown, filed for reelection. As a result, no election will be held and the incumbents will remain on the board
The Community R-6 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Secretary Stephan Schafer was the only incumbent to file for reelection. He will be running with Ryal Knipfel, Chuck Sommer, Leslie Carter and Brent Raynor.
The Van-Far R-1 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. All three incumbents, Justin Hopke, Jessica Reading and Mike Smith have filed along with Carol Schambach.
The Sturgeon R-5 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Terms for President Freedom Pollard, Kelly Sharp and Morgan Ritchie are expiring. Incumbents Sharp and Ritchie filed as well as Jacob Bowne.
The Centralia R-1 School District Board of Education had three three-year terms available. Only the three incumbents, Vice President Jared Auck, Shannon Dawson and Kelly Hawkins filed for reelection. As a result, no election will be held and the incumbents will remain on the board.
The Wellsville-Middletown R-1 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Terms for Vice President Stacey Sewell, Paula Adams and Clinetta Weinrich will expire. Incumbent Weinrich filed for reelection and will be running with Chad Schofield, Melissa Beabout and Katherine Taylor
The North Callaway R-1 School District Board of Education had three three-year terms available. Incumbents Rebecca Wall, Secretary Tim Safranski and Danielle Atterberry were the only people to file, so there will be no election.
The Middle Grove C-1 School District Board of Education has two three-year terms available. Terms for Philip Schopp and Vice President Samantha Kellogg will expire. Christopher Bothe and Nicholas Herrin were the only two candidates to file. There will be no election and the new board members will assume office in April.
Two three-year terms are available. City Council Member Larry Webber and Mayor Steve Haag have filed for reelection and Alexander Fink filed on Dec. 19.
Two two-year terms for city alderman are available. Candidates in the running will be Dwayne Hogue, Kevin Charlton and Robert Cordes.
Two two-year terms for trustees are available. Incumbents Paul Nixon and Theodore Wieberg filed for reelection and Kathleen Gronauer will also be running.
Two three-year terms for office director of The Audrain Ambulance District will be available. There is one seat available from Sub District One and one seat from Sub District Four.
No candidate filed for Sub District One, but Doris Schutte and Randy Schwartze will run for Sub District Four.
One six-year seat on the Laddonia Rural Fire Protection District Board will be available.
Two director positions, one for a six-year term and one for a two-year unexpired term will be available.
One six-year term for a Middletown Community Fire Protection District board member is available.
The Public Water Supply District No. 2 of Monroe County will have no election as incumbents Daniel Troesser and Matthew Spiers were the only two candidates to file.
