Keaton Bell will take a new mound but one close to home.
The North Callaway pitcher who is about to play his senior season signed with William Woods University in Fulton during a ceremony on Thursday in the North Callaway High School library. This happened a week after his catcher and teammate Carter Moore signed with another Fulton school Westminster College. Like Moore, Bell was an all-conference and all-district player last season when the Thunderbirds won their first district title since 1999 and advanced to the Class 3 quarterfinals. Bell had a 2.35 ERA last season along with 51 strikeouts, 10 walks and 41 hits allowed in 50 2/3 innings, hit .284 at the plate and stole a team-high 21 bases. Moore had a .282 batting average, struck out 36, walked 16 and allowed 33 hits in 37 1/3 innings pitched for a 4.31 ERA, and finished with a .976 fielding percentage behind the plate.
