Austin Maxwell only needed to face the minimum on Friday.
The Mexico right-hander pitched seven innings with six strikeouts, two hits and two walks to lead Mexico to a 6-0 home victory against district foe Hallsville (4-9). He also didn't allow one Indian to steal a base, and his defense turned three double plays behind him.
The Bulldogs (11-6) have won seven straight and defeated their second district foe in as many days after a 13-3 win at Centralia on Thursday. They weren't as dominant offensively this time against Colton Nichols (six innings with seven hits, six strikeouts, five earned runs and two walks) but took advantage of chances to advance runners.
Mexico stole four bases and several come through with runners in scoring position. Drew DeMint went 2-for-3 with two RBI (recording his sixth multi-hit game in the past seven), Jaydon Eldridge and Ashton Belcher each had a RBI double, and Tyson Carr and Chance McCarty each had a RBI.
Mexico hosts South Callaway (5-8) at 5 p.m. Monday.
