Mexico faced North Central Missouri Conference foe Kirksville last night in what could be a preview of districts.
The Bulldogs lost 28-13 to the state-ranked and undefeated Kirksville (7-0) at Hawthorne Heights in Mexico (3-4) after allowing 289 yards and four touchdowns from Jace Kent on 33 attempts. Mexico trailed 21-13 going into the fourth quarter following a two-yard touchdown run by Hunter Cuno, which followed a 55-yard reception by Drew DeMint and an interception by Peyton Hoover. Speaking of DeMint and interceptions, DeMint returned a pick 53 yards for a touchdown and a 6-0 Mexico lead in the first quarter. Grant Van Horn recovered a fumble to give Mexico's defense three turnovers compared to Class 4 No. 3 Kirksville's two.
Mexico plays at conference foe Moberly (2-5) at 7 p.m. Friday.
