Mexico fell behind early against a bigger opponent.
The Bulldogs (4-5) allowed 266 yards (188 passing and four touchdown passes) of total offense against Class 5 MICDS (7-2), a private school in the St. Louis area, to lose its regular season finale on Friday night. The Bulldogs trailed 36-0 at halftime and played with a running clock in the second half. Mexico finished with 149 yards of total offense (113 rushing), including 45 yards on four carries by quarterback Kaden Benne. He ran for a 28-yard touchdown for Mexico's only points of the game in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter.
For districts, Mexico has the No. 7 seed in Class 4 District 5 and will play at No. 2 seed and Class 4 No. 3 Kirksville (9-0) next Friday in a rematch from a 28-13 loss earlier this season.
