Bulldogs hold off ranked Orchard Farm in 55-49 sectional victory

For the fourth time in five years, the Mexico boys are in the Class 4 state quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs earned their trip this season with a 55-49 sectional win on Monday at Orchard Farm in St. Charles. Outside of a 14-0 by the state No. 10 Eagles (22-7) near the end of the first quarter, Mexico (23-6) led for the entire game and kept Orchard Farm at arm's length. PJ Perkins was in the middle of Mexico's 10-0 run to respond that 14-0 Orchard Farm run to take a 26-18 halftime lead. Perkins led the Bulldogs with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Charlie Fisher and Kaden Benne (eight rebounds) each had 10 points, and Jaydon Eldridge had nine points and six rebounds. Max Dietrich led Orchard Farm with 16 points, and Will Wolf and Josh Wolf each had 10 points.

Mexico hosts state No. 1 and reigning state champion Vashon (24-2) at 6 p.m. Friday, making this the third quarterfinal meeting between these teams in the past five years.
