Bulldogs lose 8-7 in extras to ranked rival Fulton

For the second time in two nights, Mexico fell short in extra innings.

The Bulldogs lost a 6-1 lead over North Central Missouri Conference rival and Class 4 No. 7 Fulton in the seventh inning before tying the game at 7 to send the game into extras and then losing in eight 8-7. Fulton posted a six-run seventh inning (including a bases-clearing double by Gage Baker and a RBI triple by Miles Bethell before he scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball) before Cooper Bledsoe responded with a RBI single to tie the game in the seventh inning. Gabe DeFily (3-for-4) slid head first into first base to record an infield hit and pick up the game-winning RBI with two outs in the eighth inning. The Hornets scored all seven runs in the final two innings with two outs. For Mexico, Jaydon Eldridge was 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI and a double and struck out four and allowed one run on two hits and seven walks in five innings pitched, Drew DeMint had a two-RBI double, and Austin Maxwell had a RBI. 

Mexico plays the first of three games in the Eugene Quad starting tomorrow at 5 p.m. against Hallsville (3-5) and then Eugene (3-6) at 9 a.m. Saturday and Waynesville (2-5) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
