Bulldogs lose tight 3-2 contest to Hannibal

Posted

Mexico didn't have enough big hits on Thursday.

The Bulldogs lost 3-2 to North Central Missouri Conference for Hannibal at home after striking out eight times and finishing with five hits. Mexico (4-5, 1-1 NCMC) loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth inning but only scored one run from it.

That run was on a RBI groundout from Brady Fox, who pitched six innings with six strikeouts, five hits, two earned runs and two walks. Colton Dryden came out on top in the pitching duel for Hannibal (5-4, 1-0 NCMC) by going 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts, five walks, three hits and one unearned run.

Chance McCarty singled in the seventh inning prior to a Hannibal error to allow an unearned run to score for Mexico. Drew DeMint only allowed one softly hit RBI single by Waylon Anders earlier in that inning to follow to hard-hit RBI hits from Dryden and Kane Wilson in the third inning.

Mexico plays another conference game at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Kirksville (5-2, 0-2 NCMC).
